Russia: in July 2011 grain export to not exceed the level of 1.5-1.7 mln tonnes – experts

Despite the fact that Russia on July 1, 2011, cancels the ban on grain exports, large-scale supplies of grains abroad are not expected. According to experts, in July 2011 grain exports from the country will not exceed the level of 1.5-1.7 mln tonnes.

Vladimir Petrichenko, General Director of"ProZerno Ltd., informed that most likely in July Russia will export 1.5 mln tonnes of grains. Although, he said Russia should begin the monthly supplies at the level of 2 mln tonnes as the country has the large reserves of grains.

According to Alexander Korbut, Vice-President of Russian Grain Union, the July exports will vary within the range of 1.5-1.7 mln tonnes. In August 2011 the export volumes will total nearly 2 mln tonnes.

Russia's export potential in 2011 "may be in the vicinity of 18-20 mln tonnes of grains", as the domestic consumption will be less than 70 mln tonnes, forecasts V.Petrichenko.

A.Korbut said that the index will total 15-18 mln tonnes. But other experts doubt whether this potential is realized.

According to A.Korbut, the export volumes will be constrained by the continuing decline of prices on the world market, "as well as discriminatory measures, which were introduced by the range of countries in respect of Russian wheat”.

According to analysts of APK-Inform Agency, the Russia's export potential for grains in 2011/12 MY is estimated at the level of 17 mln tonnes (in 2010/11 MY - 4 mln tonnes).
