Russia: Government has no need to influence the grain market – V.Zubkov
The grain market in the Russian Federation does not need regulation, at least, until the autumn 2011, declared Viktor Zubkov, First Vice Prime Minister, on July 20.
According to him, to date the market should be controlled by purely commercial processes which allow those who have grain surplus to sell it abroad, and those who can not or do not want to do such operations, to sell grains on the domestic market.
To date grain prices vary within the range of 5-6 thsd RUR/t, which forms the comfort corridor for both grain producers and consumers, as opposed to 3.6-3.8 thsd RUR/t last year, or 7 9.5 thsd RUR/t.
V.Zubkov said that the customs authorities confirmed 6 mln tonnes of grains for the further exports. He confirmed the previous forecast that the general grain production in the current year will reach the level of 90 mln tonnes. Such forecast allows to Russia to expect for much better general condition of grains, compared to last year, he explained, adding that the Siberia still has problems with heat, which threatens the grain harvest.
