Russia: experts forecast increase of grain harvest in 2011

The Analytical Center of CJSC Rusagrotrans, increased the forecast of the general grain production in Russia in 2011 to the level of 91.8 mln tonnes (the previous estimation - 90.9 mln tonnes), according to the analytical report of the company as of August 3.

In particular, the forecast of wheat production increased to the level of 56.4 mln tonnes (previously - 55.8 mln tonnes), barley - at the same level of 15.8 mln tonnes, maize - increased to 5.76 mln tonnes (5.6 mln tonnes).

Experts expect for the significant growth of grain production in the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts - up to 32.48 mln tonnes (in 2010 - 27.25 mln tonnes). It is the second maximum figure in the history of post-Soviet Russia (2008 - nearly 37 mln tonnes).

Agrarians of the Central Federal District will produce 17.88 mln tonnes (in 2010 - 9.7 mln tonnes, in 2009 - 21.55 mln tonnes), the Volga District - 20.2 mln tonnes (in 2010 - 6 55 mln tonnes, in 2009 - 21.7 mln tonnes), the Siberian District - 14.4 mln tonnes (in 2010 - 13.36 mln tonnes, in 2009 - 18.35 mln tonnes).

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, in 2011 the harvest will reach the level of 85-90 mln tonnes (in clean weight). As of August 2, Russian agrarians produced over 34 mln tonnes of grains (in bunker weight) throughout the quarter of planned areas.
