Russia: Commercial Port of Vladivostok to ship grains in containers and big bags
OJSC Commercial Port of Vladivostok (Russia) plans to start grain transshipment in containers and big bags (soft containers), declared Sergey Lopunov, the operational director of JSC Commercial Port of Vladivostok.
According to him, from the beginning of 2010, the company faced the tendency of increasing of shipment of export grain cargoes. In January-February period of 2010, the port processed 30.4 thsd tonnes of grain cargoes, including 20.44 thsd tonnes of export grains and 9.97 thsd tonnes of coastal freight grains.
According to S.Lopunov, to date, grains arrive to the port in rail cars-hoppers, then the port transships grains by the direct variant – rail car- vessel.
