Russia. Cargoes turnover through Tuapse CSP down 5% - to 18.4 million tons in 2009
The volume of commodities transshipped via Tuapse Commercial Sea Port fell 5 percent as compared with 2008, to 18.4 million tons in 2009. The volumes of handled oil cargo amounted to 14.100.000 tons a year-over-year 3% decline. Transshipment of dry cargoes dropped to 4.3 million tons (-2%), the company’s press service reported.
"The slight decrease in freight turnover was due to the current trend in global economy, a reduced business activity of shippers", the port’s statement said.
In recent year the TCSP’s terminals handled 65.100.000 rail cars and 823 vessels (including 395 oil tankers and 428 dry cargo ships).
Tuapse Commercial Sea Port JSC is the major operator of one of the largest ports in Russia - the seaport of Tuapse. The Universal Cargo Logistics Holding B.V (UCLH) holds 69.52% of stocks in TCSP.
