Purchase prices for pork will grow due to reduction of pig stock
Over a period from April 18 until May 10, noticeable reduction of purchase prices for pigs in live weight took place. Primarily, this drop is explained by reduction of demand for pork in live weight - a range of spring holidays has passed. At the same time, it is expected that in the nearest future its purchase price will demonstrate a growth dynamics, since, usually, its rise is demonstrated in summer.
It was discussed at the Fourth International Congress “Profitable Pig Breeding,” which has opened on Tuesday in Kyiv and gathered over 400 participants, representatives of processing enterprises, commercial companies, news agencies, UKRINFORM's correspondent reports.
“Taking into consideration that domestic pork deficit is observed in the country (related to reduction of pig stock and reduction in the volumes of pork production), pig breeders raised prices for slaughter pigs,” specialists of the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine say.
On the whole, according to the Association, the average price for stouts (I category) made up UAH 21.6/ 1 kg of live weight in April, which is 8% or UAH 1.6 up against March. Pigs of II category (meat-bacon) grew in price by another 7.7% (UAH 1.35/kg) in April and cost UAH 19.3/kg on average.
During a plenary meeting, the congress will estimate and forecast development of the Ukrainian pig breeding sector and its place on the world market. Problems of price formation and cost price will be considered, recent technological achievements, the state of investments in the sector, state support for pig breeding, methods of modern pig breeding complex management and secrets of the best Ukrainian enterprises.
