Demand for cattle from abroad has led to prices increase
According to UCAB price monitoring, the average purchase cattle price (bulls 400 kg) from the beginning of October amounted to 30-31 UAH/kg. In the central region price increased by 10% and into the middle of the month amounted to 32-34 UAH/kg. The price rises was caused by the increasing number of export contracts. Market players say about the demand for domestic livestock from buyers from Jordan, chilled carcasses - Belarus, boneless meat – Egypt.
The total amount of exports of live cattle for three quarters of 2016 is amounted to 18.3 M USD. In particular, Egypt exported 74.6% of the total weight of live cattle in the amount of 13.6 M USD. Uzbekistan - 11.5% to 2.1 M USD, Azerbaijan - 6.1% (1.1 M USD) and to other countries - 7.8% (1.4 M USD). Majority of fresh or chilled meat were sold in Belarus (99%) in the amount of 22.8 M USD. Exports of frozen meat in monetary terms amounted to 27.4 M USD. The main buyers of frozen meat for three quarters of 2016 were Kazakhstan with a share of 29.3% (8.0 M USD), Azerbaijan - 23.1% (6.3 M USD), Belarus - 11.3% (3.1 M USD), other countries have 36.3% (10 M USD).
