Over 60 million tons of grain will be supplied to market this year - agriculture ministry
More than 60 million tons of grain will be provided to the market this year, despite not very favorable climatic conditions last autumn, this winter and spring.
This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Bezuhly, the government portal reported on Thursday.
"More than 60 million tons of grain will be supplied to the market. This is 48-49 million tons of this year's crop and 12 million tons of carryover stocks. With domestic consumption of 27 million tons and ending stocks of 5 million tons, 27 million tons could be exported. So, there will be no problems with either food or feed grain," Mykola Bezuhly said.
He also predicted that the gross production of oil crops could be at the level of 11-12 million tons.
"Our oil extraction plants will process up to 10 million tons, so we will need to export 2-2.5 million tons of oil bearing crops. Thus, the economic situation with the production of grains and oilseeds in this country is overall satisfactory," Bezuhly said.
