Nibulon begins construction on river grain terminal
Nibulon announced on Jan. 14 the start of construction on a new transshipment terminal for grains and oilseeds
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Dec. 26 in Kamyanka-Dniprovs'ka in the Zaporizhzhya region of Ukraine. The company said construction of the facility is a gradual step in implementing of the company’s large-scale investment project. In addition, the terminal in Kamyanka-Dniprovs’ka will be the first NIBULON subsidiary in Zaporizhzhya region.
O. Vadaturskyy, general director of Nibulon, said the project would cost more than 100 million UAH (hryvnias), or $12.4 million. The port will facilitate vessels that can carry up to 5,000 tonnes of grain directly to markets in Turkey, Israel, Jordan, Greece and other Mediterranean countries, he said.
"We set ourselves the task to create one of the most modern enterprises with estimated cost of more than 100 million hryvnias for only four months," he said. "This company will be able to take and ship 5,000 tonnes of agricultural products daily. This project will increase the market price by 50-70 hryvnias.
"If you multiply these figures on the volume of agricultural products, that we can accept and ship, regional households will receive 15 million hryvnias of additional income to agricultural sector in the Left Bank area of Ukraine and on the whole income of households will be more than 100 million hryvnias. It is the point of the economic impact of our project," Vadaturskyy said.
