Moratorium on sale of farming land prolonged
The moratorium on the sale of farming land has been prolonged until legal regulation of land market, says the law on the 2008 national budget. The moratorium was prolonged from January 1, 2008 until the laws of the State Land Cadastre and land market take effect.
At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers is ordered to submit for Verkhovna Rada's consideration the bills on the land market and the State Land Cadastre. In January 2007, the Rada prolonged the farmland sale ban until 2008, having overridden the President's veto. At the same time, the head of state repeatedly declared that the farmland sale ban caused corruption on land market, and insisted on a speediest settlement of relations in that area.
