Ministry of Finance demands additional fiscal charges from ports
The Ministry of Finance has issued a decree demanding that commercial sea ports of Odessa, Ilyichevsk, Mariupol, Kherson, Nikolayev, Yuzhny, Oktyabrsk, and Delta-Lotsman pay part of their net profit for the nine months of 2009 (to the amount of 75% to 98%) to the state budget. The Association of Ukrainian Ports and Ukrainian Maritime Bar Association consider the decree contradictory to the current legislation. Experts also do not rule out the probability of an increase in the tax burden on Berdyansk, Izmail, Ilyichevsk and Odessa commercial sea ports and the port Yuzhny due to the transfer of water area and adjacent lands onto the balance sheet of the ports following the corresponding decree recently issued by the Ministry.
