Ministry of Economy suggests change of law on customs tariffs
The Ministry of Economy has prepared alterations to the law on customs tariffs, under which the country may switch to the GS-07 version of classificator of commodities which is used by most EU and CIS countries. Besides, under the draft law, customs duties for import of some products will be reduced starting from 1 January 2010 in correspondence with obligations of Ukraine to WTO. In particular, the average customs duties on fish products will be reduced from 1.88% to 1.83%, on medical equipment from 2.53% to 1.85%, on nuclear reactors and spare parts to them from 2.15% to 2.12%, for plastics from 3.62% to 2.2%, for furniture from 3.93% to 3.41%, for audio and video appliances from 4.11% to 3.79%, for rubber and resins from 4% to 3.92% and for airspace equipment from 6.31% to 5.66%. According to the Verkhovnaya Rada, the draft law is hardly to be ratified before the end of 2009.
