Ministry of Agricultural Policy reduces its outlook for sugar output
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine has announced that at present, sugar beet is gathered on 93% of areas under crops in Ukraine. According to preliminary estimation, the harvest will slightly exceed 10mn tons. So the ministry reduced its outlook for output of sugar made of sugar beet harvested in 2009, by 20%, to 1.2mn tons.
About 12.535mn tons of sugar beet were accepted for processing in season of the previous agricultural year. The average productivity reached 355 centners per hectare. Output of sugar made of sugar beet totalled 1.575mn tons, down 15% against the previous season.
