Minister: Every 11th ton of grain in the world is from Ukraine
In 2012, every 11th ton of grain in the world was from Ukraine, agrarian policy and food minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk told a briefing.
«Over the past few years, Ukraine has become one of the most powerful players on the global food market. Agricultural products are the fourth part of the total exports of Ukraine, and every 11th ton of grain, which was sold on the world market, was of the Ukrainian production in 2012,» he stressed.
The minister said that last year the export of all domestic agricultural products amounted to 18.2 billion dollars, which is by 40% more than in 2011. «Ukraine owns 9.2% of the global grain trade. This year, the export opportunities for the domestic market of grain will amount to 23 million tons. According to experts of the FAO and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, until 2021 our country will be able to export 33 million tons of grain annually,» he said.
