Milk purchase price almost 14% lower than last year - agriculture ministry
The price for the purchase of milk from households as of January 4, 2013 averagely across Ukraine was 2,417 UAH/ton against 2,799 UAH/ton last year, which is 14% lower.
UKRINFORM learned this from the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
"The average price of grade 2 milk bought from households as of December 28, 2012 was 2,401 UAH/ton. For comparison, on January 4, 2012, the average price of the same grade milk in Ukraine was 2,799 UAH/ton, and by January 4, 2013 it was 2,417 UAH/ton, which is nearly 14% down on the current level," the ministry informed.
At the same time, agricultural enterprises as of December 28 last year bought grade 1 milk at 3,307 UAH/ton averagely across Ukraine. Although already on January 4 this year the cost of the product reached 3,319 UAH/ton. By this time last year, the purchase price for milk was 3,799 UAH/ton. Thus, this year the purchase price of milk from farms is almost 13% less than last year.
