Milk production decreases, prices for dairy foods grow
Seasonal price increase for milk of 15% on average depending on the region and tax refund abolition for companies supplying milk to dairies from 24 November 2009 have caused the price growth in the dairy industry. Shostka Dairy has raised factory prices in mid-December 7% and is to boost them 10% more since January. Galichina dairy company raised prices 10% on 10 December. It reports milk purchase expenses to have risen 20% since December and output expenses 14%, so Galichina managers are planning another price increase. Milk output in Ukraine is continuing to decrease. The State Statistics Committee reports the production to have totaled 10.2mn tons in nine months of 2009, 1.2% down y/y.
