Memorandum on reverse gas supplies from Slovakia signed - Yatseniuk
Ukraine has signed a memorandum with Slovakia on cooperation in the energy sector, which envisages reverse supplies of up to eight billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said this at a briefing on Monday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"Ukraine has just signed with the Slovak Republic, namely with Slovak transit company Eustream, a memorandum of cooperation in the energy sector, which foresees the launch of reverse supplies of natural gas from Slovakia," he said.
He said that according to the document, Ukraine would be able to receive eight billion cubic meters of gas per year.
"After further examinations, we hope that the volume of supply will be increased, because this memorandum is a very great achievement in terms of diversification of natural gas supplies to Ukraine," Yatseniuk said.
He also said that this agreement had been signed due to the position of the European Commission and the Slovak government.
