Landkom wheat harvest average yield up 32 pct
Landkom International Plc (LKI.L), a Ukrainian producer of high-value oilseed rape and wheat, said its average yield of winter wheat rose 32 percent from last year in its core land in western Ukraine.
The company said it harvested 31,896 tonnes of winter wheat from 7,874 hectares. This represents an average yield of 4.1 tonnes per hectare, compared with last year's 3.1 tonnes per hectare of winter wheat yield in western regions.
"This substantial increase in yield was achieved with a significantly reduced farming team," Interim Chief Executive Stephen Pickup said in a statement.
"We will work to further improve our yields again next year with a main focus on the western regions," he added.
The company's shares closed at 10.5 pence on Tuesday on the London Stock Exchange.
