Kyrgyzstan to impose temporary import duties for wheat flour
On June 8, 2009, Kyrgyzstan pans to impose temporary duties for imports of wheat flour, declared the press-cutting service of the government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the announcement, the decree of the government "About the beginning of examination and imposing of temporary protective measures for wheat flour imports" provided the introduction of the wheat flour import duties.
The temporary protective duties will last for five-month period and total the rate of 3 som/kg (1 USD = 43.06 som).
The temporary import duties are imposed for flour produced from hard and soft wheat and spelt wheat. Such measures are introduced in order to stabilize the economic situation and support the domestic producers.
According to the antimonopoly agency of the country, in 2008 import flour supplies to Kyrgyzstan increased by 45 thsd tons or 170% compared to the previous year.
