KSG AGRO imports 1,467 hogs from Denmark
The Niva Trudova farm in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk Region received 1,467 hogs from the Danish company Breeders of Denmark. Following this delivery, the number of hogs on the farm has increased to a total of approx 3,000 sows and boars.
All the newly acquired animals are in good shape after the journey and are now placed in quarantine under a watchful eye of Danish and Ukrainian specialists. During the quarantine, blood samples will be collected from the animals, which then, in accordance with Ukrainian law, will be subjected to routine sanitary tests.
This operation marks the completion of the second stage of delivery of breeding animals to the Company’s reconstructed and renovated pig breeding complex. Facilities for the farming of breeding sows and boars with an artificial insemination laboratory have been put into use. The lab is fitted with modern market-leading equipment for artificial insemination of animals.
The first batch of animals, delivered in April, have passed their quarantine successfully. They are now undergoing acclimatization in parallel with the conduct of preparatory work to carry out an insemination procedure planned for the third decade of June. Four months later, the first piglets should appear on the farm.
Also ahead of schedule, separate units for pregnant sows have been put into use. Intensive construction and fit-out works in preparation for the acceptance of livestock in the third stage of delivery are still underway.
