UCAB Team Participates in International Regenerative Agriculture Project in the UK

UCAB has joined an international initiative led by the University of Reading, participating in the launch of the innovative KIARA project (Knowledge and Innovation for Advisory Services in Regenerative Agriculture), implemented with the support of EIT Food. The first international KIARA workshop brought together partners from Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, and Ireland, focusing on education and innovation in sustainable agriculture. This three-year project aims to develop advisory services for the implementation of regenerative agriculture, with a particular focus on small and medium-sized farms.
Delegation members, including UCAB representatives, explored field practices for restoring soil fertility, increasing biodiversity, and enhancing carbon sequestration. They also visited demonstration sites where sustainable farming approaches are being implemented. Special attention was given to the "Farming for Nature" program, which fosters collaboration with British farmers and retailers, including the Waitrose supermarket chain.
UCAB has become an official KIARA project partner alongside leading European academic institutions, such as University College Dublin, the University of Reading, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, and others. Ukrainian delegates also took part in strategic discussions on adapting Western European practices to the Ukrainian context.
"Participation in KIARA is a great opportunity to learn best practices in regenerative agriculture and adapt them for Ukrainian farmers. We also aim to share this knowledge through UCAB events and the educational project AgroKebety," said Anatoliy Tsyrkun, General Director of UCABevent and UCABtravel Agencies, and head of the AgroKebety project.
Project coordinator Associate Professor Sarah Cardey from the University of Reading emphasized the importance of cross-country knowledge exchange: "Regenerative agriculture is one of Europe's most promising directions, addressing climate, human health, and the financial stability of farmers. We aim to train over 900 agricultural advisors—300 each in Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine—and to engage hundreds of trainers and farmers through agricultural events and ‘Farmer Field Schools.’"
Following the visit, the parties discussed plans for ongoing training of agricultural advisors in Ukraine, conducting field demonstrations, and launching pilot initiatives to help farmers effectively implement sustainable farming practices.
UCAB plans to integrate the acquired knowledge into Ukrainian support projects for farmers and to initiate pilot regenerative agriculture programs across Ukraine.
