Kazakhstan requests Iran to speed up construction of railway Uzen - Gorgan
Kazakhstan has requested Iran to speed up construction of the railway Uzen - Gyzylgaya - Bereket - Etrek - Gorgan. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, informed in Beijing during the meeting with First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Reza Rahimi, on Wednesday, the agency reports citing the prime minister's press service.
According to the press service, K. Masimov held a number of meetings after the session of the Council of SCO Prime Ministers.
During the meeting with First Vice President of Iran, the officials discussed the questions of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In particular, they discussed possibilities of expansion of cooperation in finance, energy, transport, and in the spheres of grain and investment cooperation.
The Prime Minister drew special attention to realization of the civil-engineering construction of the railroad line along the route of Uzen - Gyzylgaya - Bereket - Etrek - Gorgan from Kazakhstan to Iran through Turkmenistan.
K. Masimov informed that Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan had already started realization of this project.
K. Masimov addressed the leadership of Iran with the request to speed up the work in the territory of Iran.
In his turn, Mohammad Reza Rahimi said, "Brotherly relations of Kazakhstan and Iran are at the highest level and we are able to finish all our projects within the short time period."
