In 2011, Azerbaijan to produce 2.5 mln tonnes of grains
In the current year Azerbaijan is expected to produce 2.5 mln tonnes of grains, announced Bahram Aliyev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the country.
According to him, beginning from early June Azerbaijan began harvesting barley. To date agrarians completed the harvesting campaign of the grain and produced over 752 thsd tonnes of barley throughout the areas of 325 thsd ha.
The average grain yield totals 25 c/ha.
As a reminder, last year grain production in Azerbaijan totaled 2 mln tonnes, a decrease of 25% compared to the forecast in the current year.
