In 2010, maize production in Ukraine to total 11 mln tonnes
Several oblasts of Ukraine started maize harvesting campaign. According to official data, as of August 19, Ukrainian agrarians produced 25.4 thsd tonnes of grains with the average yield of 46.3 c/ha. According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, maize production in Ukraine is expected at the level of 12 mln tonnes, the export potential totals 6 mln tonnes. However, according to Nikolay Prysiaghniuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy, to date it is obvious that Ukraine will not manage to produce 12 mln tonnes of maize in the current marketing year.
