Import substitution of agricultural machinery planned to be increased up to 60% - Agricultural Policy and Food Ministr

Thanks to the state support aimed at raising competitiveness of national agricultural machinery, increase of its import substitution is planned up to 60%.

This was discussed at a meeting on development of the engineering-technical provision of the agroindustrial complex and the agricultural machinery construction, which was held within the frames of the exhibition AGRO 2013, the press service of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry informed about this.

“One of priorities of work of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry is rendering the state financial support for the purchase of domestic agricultural machinery. This enables formation of modern technical-technological basis for agroindustrial enterprises. At the same time, thanks to the state support of the agricultural machinery building sector, we are planning to boost import substitution over next five years to 60% from the existing 20%,” director of the department for engineering-technical provision and agricultural machinery construction of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry Oleksandr Hryhorovych has said about this.

According to him, the agency realizes a number of investment projects for production of grain harvesters, modern tractors and creation of capacities for production of wide-cut sowing complexes and technological re-equipment of the existing park of equipment.

The Ministry representative also noted that the main production volume of agricultural products in Ukraine falls on farming enterprises and cooperatives. So, the task of the agency is to create all conditions so that the agricultural machinery became affordable for small and medium agricultural producers.

To remind, earlier, the Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said that the state sends its support to small and medium agricultural producers and cooperatives for the purchase of the agricultural machinery. In addition to introduction of the technology leasing mechanism, the state compensates interest rates on credits taken by agricultural producers for the purchase of the necessary agricultural machinery.
