IMF publishes macroeconomic forecast for 2009 agreed with Ukraine
The Ukrainian authorities have agreed with the International Monetary Fund its forecast for a fall in GDP in 2009 at 14%, according to the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies, which was agreed by Ukraine and the IMF in July and published by the fund on September 8.
This forecast was downgraded compared to the previous review of a program on cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF (Ukraine's GDP was previously expected to contract by 8% in 2009).
Ukraine and the IMF also agreed their forecast for this year's inflation at 14%.
This forecast was upgraded compared to the previous review of the program (inflation was earlier predicted at 16%).
Ukraine's current account balance in 2009 is expected at 0.6% of GDP (0.5% of GDP expected earlier).
Ukraine and the IMF earlier agreed their forecast for GDP growth in 2010 at around 3% and inflation at 9.7%.
