Government does not have plans to impose the export duties on oilseeds and sunflower oil – N.Prysiazhnyuk

To date the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine does not plan to impose the export duties on oilseeds and sunflower oil, assured Nikholay Prysiazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on July 6.

The Minister stressed that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy is opposed to imposition of any limitations on exports of agricultural products with export duties.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade intends to propose to impose the export duties on rye, oats, buckwheat and millet, soybeans, rapeseed and sunflower oil.

Previously, from July 1 to January 1, 2012, Ukraine imposed the customs duties on exports of wheat (9% of the customs cost, but not lower 17 EUR/t), barley (14%, but not lower 23 EUR/t), maize (12%, but not lower 20 EUR/t). Participants of the agricultural market repeatedly argued against imposition of the duties on grain exports, saying it would lead to rather significant reduction in domestic prices and losses of farmers.

Ukraine is one of the largest producers of sunflower oil in the world.
