Georgia expects record citrus fruit harvest
Georgia is expecting a record citrus fruit harvest this year, Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said at acabinet meeting Tuesday. A source at the Agriculture Ministry told Interfax that the country is expected to harvest more than 20,000 tonnes of citrus fruit this year, 130% more than last year's 52,000 tonnes. Georgia is expected to export about 40% of the harvest, primarily to Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Armenia. Up to 25% will be sold on the domestic market, and the remainder will be processed.
