Farmers harvest over 21 m tons of grain
Farmers harvested 21.2 million tons of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine from an area of 7.49 million hectares (70% of the target), as of July 18, with an average yield being 28.3 quintals per hectare, the press service of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine has reported.
In particular, farmers harvested 2.85 million tons of winter barley from an area of 1.04 million hectares (97% of the target), with a yield being 27.4 quintals per hectare. They also collected 15.64 million tons of winter wheat from an area of 4.91 million hectares (76%), with an average yield being 31.8 quintals per hectare. Spring barley was harvested from an area of 1.23 million hectares (55%). By that date farmers threshed 2.16 million tons, with an average grain yield being 17.5 quintals per hectare, reads the statement.
Farmers harvested 36,900 tons of spring wheat from an area of 19,900 hectares. An average yield was 18.5 quintals per hectare.
Farmers also collected 241,200 tons of rye from 94,300 hectares (33%), with an average yield of 25.6 quintals per hectare, 49,100 tons of oats from 32,300 hectares (13%), with a yield of 15.2 quintals per hectare, and 1.65 million tons of rape from 766,000 hectares (79%), with an average yield of 21.6 quintals per hectare.
