FAO: More people than ever before rely on fisheries and aquaculture for food
Presently more people than ever before are relying on fisheries and aquaculture for food and as a source of income, UN Radio says referring to the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) recent report.
But, the FAO «State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture» report is warning that wastage, harmful practices and poor management threaten the sector’s sustainability. Global fisheries and aquaculture production totaled 158 million tonnes in 2012 — about 10 million tonnes up against 2010.
