European Union not approving Ukraine's participation in negotiations to set up 'grain OPEC'
The European Union does not approve Ukraine's participation in negotiations to set up the 'grain OPEС', association of Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine for pursuing a common policy on the world grain market, EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Mariann Fischer Boel informed today following completion of negotiations with Agricultural Policy Minister Yuriy Melnyk, UKRINFORM reports.
According to Boel, the EU does not approve Ukraine's participation in the negotiations on the grain pool of the three countries because Ukraine is the WTO member, and Russia and Kazakhstan are not included into this organization.
On June 7, at the World Grain Forum in St. Petersburg (Russia) the Ukrainian Agricultural Policy Minister stated that Ukraine is ready to enter the grain pool jointly with Russia and Kazakhstan for joint work on the world market.
