EU grain market tightens as production slides
The EU will add to growing concerns on world grain markets this season if production shrinks by as much as some are forecasting, after extreme weather conditions in recent months swept across the bloc. French analysts Strategie Grains (SG) this week pegged total grain output in the 27 member states at some 277.5 million tonnes, down from last month’s estimate of 281mt, and sliding from 293mt last year.
