EU increased the supply of agricultural products in Ukraine

According to the State Fiscal Service, supply of agricultural products from the EU to Ukraine in the first half of 2016 amounted by 0.85 B USD, which is in 8.1% more than in the same period of last year. Overall, imports of agricultural products increased by 10.2% to 1.95 B USD during the first half of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015.
Imports of agricultural products from the EU are quite diverse, leading supplies are seed corn - 9.6%, food products - 6.8% (food for dogs and cats and mixtures (premixes) - 6.5% and sunflower – 5, 3%. During the first half of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015 purchases increased mostly on oilseeds - by 39.7% (mainly import of sunflower seeds); food products - 14.2%, especially extracts and concentrates of coffee, tea or mate; fish and shellfish - by 53.5%, mainly frozen one.
Recall that Ukraine, under the terms of the DCFTA between Ukraine and the EU has set tariff quotas for tax-free import from EU agricultural products. The basis of the tariff quotas are three categories of products: pork, poultry and sugar. According to DFS, as of October 18, 2016 the EU used 100% of the principal tax-free quota for the supply of poultry meat and semi-finished products and started to use the additional quota (14.8 tons or 0.15%) for this type of products. The main tax-free quota for the supply of pork has closed by 23.1% and 0.08% of additional import quotas for pork has been used. Also 68% of tax-free quotas for sugar supplies to Ukraine have been used.
