Exports from Ukraine to Turkey exceeds thrice the imports
By results of 2015, exports from Ukraine to Turkey accounted in 2.8 bln USD, while imports totaled only in 0.8 bln USD. Thus, the positive trade balance was 2 bln USD. For comparison, in the trade with the EU, the trade balance was negative and amounted to - 2.5 bln USD in 2015.
In the trade by agricultural goods between the countries the balance for Ukraine is also positive. In 2015, our country exported agricultural goods on 750 mln USD, while imports amounted to 220 mln USD only. Ukrainian agricultural exports to Turkey on 89% consisted of oilseed crops and products of their processing. Fruits, vegetable and sunflower seeds for sowing composed the biggest part (82%) of Turkish exports to Ukraine.
"Taking into account the results of foreign trade in 2015, the Turkish side is more interested in signing FTA with Ukraine because their export is three times smaller than ours. The same time, the active presence of Ukrainian goods on the Turkish market before signing the FTA shows that we have a well-developed platform for further rapid growth of our export immediately after the formalization of the agreements" - concluded Taras Vysotskyi, Director General of the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club ".
