Export of milk powder declined twice
For January-November 2013, Ukraine has exported 12.7 thousand tons of milk powder, which is two times less than the similar performance of the previous year. It was informed by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UCAB).
According to the State Statistics Committee, for 11 months of last year it was exported milk powder for 50.8 million USD in terms of expression. In comparison, for the same period of 2012 export of milk powder was 71,8 million USD. In 2013, Ukraine has cut import of milk powder. For the period from January to November it was delivered 30% less milk powder than for the same period in 2012, namely – 3,1 thousand tons.
The cause of the decrease in export of milk powder is in reducing of its production in Ukraine, growth of its prome cost due to increased procurement prices for milk under influence of competition in the purchasing of raw milk on domestic market. For January-November 2013 in Ukraine it was produced 55.3 thousand tons of milk powder, that is 6% less than the similar indicators of the previous year.
"The decrease in the production of milk powder is largely associated with shrinking amount of milk that come for processing from house farms. Deficite of raw milk promotes the growth of demand for milk powder, especially in winter. It should be noted that global demand for milk powder also rises, it occurs to a greater extent, due to the growth of milk powder consumption in China", - said the expert of agrarian markets of UCAB Alina Zharko.
