By results of 2013, Ukraine exported over 145,5 thousand tons of poultry meat and sub-products, which is 80% more than had been indicated the previous year. Informed was given by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” (UCAB).

Last year, production of poultry meat at Ukrainian agricultural enterprises grew by 12.4% and amounted to 975,7 thousand tons in slaughter weight, 15% of which were exported. According to the Ministry of Revenue and Duties, for 2013 Ukraine has realized on foreign markets poultry meat and sub-products totally for 232 mln USD.  Ukraine has managed to expand greatly the geography of exports, and to sell products in more than 70 countries. Also, Ukraine achieved a positive balance in foreign trade by poultry in the amount of 130,9 mln USD, whereas in 2012, this balance was negative and amounted to 11.9 mln USD.

Import of pork last year dropped by 28% and amounted to 150 thousand tons. It was observed also significant decreasing of pork export – up to 4,6 thousand tons. To compare, in 2012 Ukraine exported 20 thousand tons of pork. However, this reducing both in export and import under overall growth of pork production in Ukraine shows  orientation of Ukrainian producers on domestic market.

Export of beef in 2013 increased by 42% and amounted to 23,7 thousand tons. Last year beef imports was the level of 3,7 thousand tons, that is 2% less than the figures of 2012. It was observed reducing of frozen beef import to Ukraine and increasing fresh or chilled beef import.

"The significant increase in the export of poultry meat last year was achieved by raising its production in Ukraine. Significant expansion of geography for export and  supplying poultry meat on the market of the European Union had strategic importance for the industry. Ukraine managed to enter the top ten countries-exporters of poultry. This year Ukraine will continue to increase the export of poultry meat, consolidating its position on foreign markets " - said Expert on agrarian markets of UCAB, Alina Zharko.
