Egypts GASC buys 295,000 T Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian wheat
Egypt, the worlds biggest importer of wheat, bought 295,000 tons of Ukrainian, Romanian and Russian wheat for shipment Oct. 1-10 on Tender No.6 of 28/8/2013.
The body, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), gave the following breakdown of the purchase:
• 60,000 tons of Russian wheat from Venus at $252 FOB/t, freight - $11.94 per ton
• 120,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat from El-etehad at $252 FOB/t, freight - $11.94 per ton
• 55,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat from Louis Dreyfus at $250.44 FOB/t, freight - $14.95 per ton
• 60,000 tons of Romanian wheat from Invivo at $254 FOB/t, freight - $12.75 per ton
Thus for 2013/14 Egypts GASC booked so far 1,375,000 tons of wheat (600,000 tons from Romania, 535,000 tons from Ukraine and 240,000 tons from Russia).
During the 2012/13 fiscal year, GASC purchased 3,375,000 tons of wheat, including 1,140,000 tons from Russia, 280,000 tons from Ukraine, 480,000 tons from Romania, 720,000 tons from France, 635,000 tons from USA, 60,000 tons from Canada and 60,000 tons from Argentine.
In the 2011/12 and 2010/11 GASC purchased some 5.33 and 5.58 million tons of wheat correspondently.
