Egg production in Ukraine grows by 4% in six months
Egg production at households and domestic enterprises in Ukraine grew by 4% in the first half of 2013 and amounted to 10.1 billion eggs.
This was stated by Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk, the press service of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food reported.
The trend towards an increase in egg production in Ukraine has already been seen for more than a year. Therefore, we can provide a growing demand in the country and increase exports. We have already established contacts for the supply of eggs to nearly 20 countries, the minister said.
He said that egg production had grown at the enterprise and households. This shows that its profitable for individual farmers to work in the livestock sector. And the government is trying to promote this in every possible way, Prysiazhniuk said.
The minister said that state enterprises had increased production by 5.2%, while households had achieved a 2.4% growth.
