Constitutional Court brings back import duty
Constitutional Court of Ukraine has ruled the Cabinet of Ministers' decision to cancel additional ustom duty of 13% on imported goods except cars and refrigerators illegal.
According to the constitution, the government has no right to introduce or cancel customs rates, this being the exclusive right of Verkhovna Rada. Thus the parliament decision to introduce extra 13% duty on non-critical imported goods remains in force.
