Compromise on issue of export duties for agricultural products could be introduction of threshold prices, says source
Export duties on grain, oil-bearing crops and sunflower oil could be levied only if their prices exceed threshold prices, according to a compromise deal hammered out in talks between the government and farmers, a well-informed source told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
The source said that the option was discussed at a meeting held earlier by Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
The source added that it is expected that the government will announce its position on the issue by the end of this week.
If the threshold prices that were discussed at the meeting are introduced, the present duties for grain will be considerably reduced or even canceled, the source said.
