China - Lifting wheat prices
Beijing has confirmed that it will increase minimum purchase prices for wheat next year after local prices rose beyond the current minimum level.
China began setting minimum purchase prices in 2004 to prevent farmers from suffering when market prices drop.
The government buys wheat from farmers at the minimum purchase price when domestic prices fall below the set level.
