Belarus in search of investor for new sugar refinery
Belarus is looking for an investor to construct a new sugar refinery in Mogilev Oblast, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich told reporters.
On 29 August the Belarusian head of government has visited Slutsk Sugar Refinery where he held a meeting to discuss the state of efforts to prepare for sugar beet harvesting and processing.
The Prime Minister noted that renovation and upgrade efforts helped increase the production capacity at sugar refineries by 1,000 tonnes. However, it is not enough. “We need to increase the capacity up to 50,000 tonnes per day. It would allow optimizing sugar beet processing,” he said. Therefore, capacities of sugar refineries might be expanded and production facilities upgraded. Simultaneously, Belarus is looking for an investor to construct a new sugar refinery in Mogilev Oblast.
Belgospishcheprom Concern informed that Belarus is set to produce 720,000 tonnes of white sugar in 2015, which will help meet domestic needs and increase exports. New production facilities are to be commissioned in the sugar industry. For example, Gorodeya Sugar Refinery is working to increase the output of dried granulated sugar beet pulp. Skidel Sugar Refinery is going to boost the production of citric acid. A biotechnological facility to make bakery yeast will be commissioned at Slutsk Sugar Refinery.
