Belarus: grain harvest exceeds the last year volumes by 1 mln tonnes
The current grain production volumes in Belarus exceeds the last year harvest by 1 mln tonnes, announced Mikhail Rusyi, Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus.
Agrarians produced 8 mln tonnes of grains. The harvesting campaign approached to the finish line, it remains to harvest buckwheat and millet sowings, grains in home gardens.
To date agrarians plan to start maize harvesting campaign and produce 1.5 mln tonnes of the grain. Thus, the food security will be ensured, the country will not need to import grains at all, with the exception of 5-6 thsd tonnes of hard grains, said M.Rusyi.
Last year, Belarus imported 7 thsd tonnes of milling grains and 30 thsd tonnes of feed grains for poultry.
