Azerbaijan to produce 2.5 mln tonnes of grains
In the current year Azerbaijan is expected to produce 2.5 mln tonnes of grains, an increase of 500 thsd tonnes compared to the last year, informed Ismat Abbasov, Minister of Agriculture, on June 17. According to him, milling grain volumes will total 1.7 mln tonnes.
I.Abbasov added that the domestic consumption of grains totals 3-3.2 mln tonnes. Thus, Azerbaijan will import the missing part from other countries. To date, Azerbaijan imports grains from Russia and Kazakhstan, said the Minister.
According to him, despite the fact that last year the adverse weather conditions in Azerbaijan decreased grain production volumes, the deficit in this type of commodities in the country was not observed.
