As of September 9, Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout 3% of the planned areas
As of September 9, Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout the areas of 260 thsd ha, or 3% of the forecast, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
According to the announcement, on the same date last year agrarians sowed winter crops throughout 229 thsd ha.
In particular, in the current year agrarians sowed wheat throughout 213 thsd ha (3% of the forecast), rye - 41 thsd ha (12% of the forecast), barley - 4 thsd ha (0.4% of the forecast).
Agrarians sowed winter rapeseed throughout 731 thsd ha, or 77% of the forecast.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasts winter crops sowing areas in the current year at the level of 9.2 mln ha, including winter grains - 8.3 mln ha, up 200 thsd ha compared to 2010.
In 2010, Ukraine sowed winter crops for green fodder and grain throughout almost 9.3 mln ha, down 9.1% compared to 2009. The area under winter grains declined by 5.5% - to 8.088 mln ha.
