As of September 26, Russia produced 85 mln tonnes of grains

As of September 26, Russia produced 84.7 mln tonnes of grains, an increase of 27.7 mln tonnes compared to the same period of the last drought year, and down 0.6 mln tonnes compared to the successful year of 2009.

Agrarians harvested grains and leguminous crops throughout the areas of 36.6 mln ha, or 82.9% of the planned areas. Grain yield increased to the level of 23.1 c/ha against 19 c/ha last year. However, the present year index is lower by 0.9 c/ha compared to the yield in 2009, according to data of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Agricultural enterprises of the Central Federal District harvested grains throughout 88.8% of the areas, and produced 16.2 mln tonnes of grains, as opposed to 10.1 mln tonnes in 2010, and 21.6 mln tonnes in 2009. In the present year grain yield totaled 24.4 c/ha against 18.8 c/ha in 2010, and 29.9 c/ha in 2009.

Agricultural enterprises of the Southern District harvested grains throughout 88.5% of the planned areas. The average yield totaled 32.5 c/ha (30.9 c/ha in 2010 and 30.3 c/ha in 2009). The production volumes totaled 20.3 mln tonnes of grains, up 1.5 mln tonnes compared to the corresponding period of 2010 and 2009.

The North Caucasian District harvested grains throughout 86% of the areas. The production volumes totaled 8.8 mln tonnes, against 7.7 mln tonnes in the previous two years each. Grain yield in the present year reached 37.2 c/ha as opposed to 32.1 c/ha in 2010, and 30.6 c/ha in 2009.

In the current year the Volga District, which faced the largest grain losses last year due to the droughts, returns to traditional annual averages. As of September 26, agrarians of the District produced 21 mln tonnes of grains against 21.7 mln tonnes in the same date in 2009. On the same date last year agrarians harvested 6.7 mln tonnes of grains only because of the drought. The District harvested grains throughout 85.1% of the areas. The average yield totaled 19.8 c/ha against 10.1 c/ha in 2010, and 19.9 c/ha in 2009.

Agricultural enterprises of the Siberian District exceeded all indices of 2010 and 2009 periods. Agrarians harvested grains throughout 80.8% of the areas, and produced 12.6 mln tonnes of grains against 9.9 mln tonnes last year, and 10.3 mln tonnes in 2009. In 2011, the average yield totaled 15.6 c/ha against 15 c/ha in 2010, and 19.9 c/ha in 2009.

The Urals District harvested grains throughout nearly 58% of the areas, and produced 4.7 mln tonnes against 3.3 mln tonnes in 2010, and 4 mln tonnes in 2009. The average yield in the District totaled 21.8 c/ha as opposed to 12.9 c/ha in 2010, and 15.2 c/ha in 2009.

The Far Eastern Federal District produced 495.4 thsd tonnes of grains, up 300 thsd tonnes compared to the same period last year.

The Northwestern District harvested 529.1 thsd tonnes of grains against 452.3 thsd tonnes in 2010.

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture, the general grain production in 2011 will reach the level of nearly 90 mln tonnes against 60.9 mln tonnes in 2010, and 97 mln tonnes in 2009.
