As of October 17, Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout 7.12 mln ha
As of October 17, 2011, Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout the areas of 7.12 mln ha, which totaled 87.4% of the forecast, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. On the same date last year, Ukrainian agrarians sowed winter crops throughout 7.37 mln ha.
Agrarians of Ukraine sowed wheat throughout 6 mln ha (91.3% of the forecast), rye - 0.316 mln ha (93%), barley – 0.8 mln ha (65.5%).
Ukraine sowed winter rapeseed throughout 0.907 mln ha, or 96% of the forecast.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasts winter crops sowing areas for the current year at the level of 9.1 mln ha, including winter grains sowings - 8.15 mln ha, up 147 thsd ha compared to 2010 results.
In 2010 Ukraine sowed winter crops for grain and green fodder throughout nearly 9.3 mln ha, down 9.1% compared to 2009. Winter grain sowing areas decreased by 5.5% - to 8.1 mln ha.
