As of October 14, Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout 6.9 mln ha

As of October 14, 2011, Ukraine sowed winter grains throughout the areas of 6.9 mln ha, which totaled 85% of the forecast, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. On the same date last year, Ukrainian agrarians sowed winter crops throughout 7 mln ha.
Agrarians of Ukraine sowed wheat throughout 5.9 mln ha (90% of the forecast), rye - 0.3 mln ha (92%), barley – 0.73 mln ha (59%).
Ukraine sowed winter rapeseed throughout 0.9 mln ha, or 96% of the forecast.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasts winter crops sowing areas for the current year at the level of 9.1 mln ha, including winter grains sowings - 8.15 mln ha, up 147 thsd ha compared to 2010 results.
In 2010 Ukraine sowed winter crops for grain and green fodder throughout nearly 9.3 mln ha, down 9.1% compared to 2009. Winter grain sowing areas decreased by 5.5% - to 8.1 mln ha.
