As of May 1, 2009, grain crops losses totaled 1.5% in Russia
In April 2009, the volumes of agricultural products output of all agricultural producers of the Russian Federation totaled 123.6 bln RUR in current prices, in January-April of 2009 – 379.4 bln RUR, declared the Federal Service of State Statistics (Rosstat).
According to Rosstat, in the current year the majority of agricultural economies of the Russian Federation provided the sowing campaign of spring crops in later terms compared to the previous year. As of May 1, 2009, agricultural organizations sowed spring crops throughout the area of 6.8 mln ha, including 3.8 mln ha of grains (without maize), a decrease of 36.9% and 46.9% respectively, compared to the same date of the previous year.
The Central, Southern and Volga Federal Districts have nearly 96.2% of all sowing areas of spring crops.
As of May 1, 2009, the losses of winter grain sowings in agricultural organizations totaled 0.2 mln ha or 1.5% from the general territory of crops (last year – 0.5 mln ha or 3.8% of sowings).
