As of March 1, grain selling in Ukraine lowered by 56%
As of March 1. 2010, grain selling volumes in Ukraine totaled 1.52 mln tonnes, a decrease of 56% compared to the index of the same period last year, declared the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine.
According to the announcement, during January-February of 2010, the general selling volumes of agricultural products, provided by agrarian enterprises, decreased 21% compared to the first two months of 2009, including products of plant growing industry – down 44%.
Specifically, wheat sale volumes totaled 660 thsd tonnes (down 63%), barley – 217.5 thsd tonnes (down 36%), maize – 494.8 thsd tonnes (down 57%). Volume of sales of sunflower seed totaled 329.8 thsd tonnes, down 23% compared to the last year, soybean – 37.1 thsd tonnes (down 29%), rapeseed – 9.9 thsd tonnes (down 64%). Only rye sale volumes increased by 139% compared to the index of 2009 – to 68.7 thsd tonnes.
During January-February of 2010, the average sale prices of agrarian products by agricultural enterprises of Ukraine increased by 31% compared to the same period of the last year, including plant growing products – by 57%.
